Mitsubishi Crossover Lineup

How Mitsubishi's new crossover lineup has made it the fastest growing non-luxury automaker

Mitsubishi does not produce as many vehicles as some of the better known non-luxury brands out there. For example, the 2018 Mitsubishi lineup has just six vehicles, and that’s if you count the Mirage and Mirage G4 and Outlander and Outlander PHEV as completely distinct vehicles. By comparison, Ford has 23 and Honda has 19. Although you may not see the same quantity of Mitsubishi vehicles on the road, that doesn’t mean it isn’t currently one of the fastest growing and successful brands in the industry.

When the fiscal year ended on March 31, Mitsubishi reported a net income of $1 billion, which marks a massive turnaround from the $1.87 billion net loss from the year before. Over that year, Mitsubishi reported revenue is up 15 percent and sales are up 19 percent worldwide with 1.1 million vehicles sold.

What is driving Mitsubishi’s success?

In the last year, Mitsubishi has made some substantial changes to its vehicle lineup, led by the introduction of the all-new 2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross, which debuted earlier this year and is currently available on our lot. This new compact crossover capitalizes on the increasing demand in the compact crossover class, and Mitsubishi’s sporty, adventurous characteristics to the compact crossover class.

Additionally, Mitsubishi made major changes to the already popular Outlander and Outlander Sport models, which have both seen sales increases in the last year. Lastly, Mitsubishi recently revealed the Outlander PHEV, which is one of just a few plug-in hybrid crossovers available today.

Expect to see Mitsubishi continue to put its focus on its popular crossover and SUV lineup as it looks to continue its incredible growth.
